Airpura Air Purifiers Technology
The Airpura High Efficiency Filtration System
Airpura has a solution for every problem. Each Airpura model has been configured to focus on a particular air quality situation. For example, some are best for odors and chemicals, others for pathogens. Regardless of the variations between the models, each Airpura shares these features:
The True HEPA filter or SuperHEPA filter traps airborne particles. These filters were developed by the Atomic Energy Commission to trap radio-active particles. True HEPA filters can capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. Airpura’s SuperHEPA filter exceeds the HEPA standard by capturing 99.99% of these particles. That is as small as some bacteria.
The pre-filter traps larger dust and particles. It may be vacuumed from the exterior of the unit. It acts to stop the larger particles such as dust and lint from clogging the other filters.
The activated carbon bed adsorbs airborne chemicals, gases and odors. Many air purifiers offer only a spray of carbon sprayed on the pre-filter. This is only sufficient to capture a small amount of gases and odors and soon fills up.
Airpura carbon filters have from 18 to 30 pounds of activated carbon that will trap 60% of its own weight in airborne chemicals, gases and odors. They will keep on adsorbing harmful chemicals for 24 months in typical use.
The two Micro-supress filters on each side of the carbon bed kill microbes that may collect on them.
Technology That Makes Airpura an Excellent Choice
Vacuumable pre-filter
Vacuum through the mesh and replace every 12 months.
2 Micro-Suppress filters
Suppress bacteria and viruses around the carbon bed.
Carbon filter
Absorbs airborne chemicals noxious gases and odors
True HEPA or SuperHEPA filter
True HEPA traps 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns SuperHEPA traps 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.
Unimpeded airflow
The air flows directly from the filters to the exterior for lower air turbulence and less noise.
Motor and electric parts out of the airflow
Other systems blow clean air over the motor and recontaminate it.
One piece motor / fan assembly
Eliminates vibration problems where separate fan is attached to a shaft with a set screw. Compact motor / fan design allows more space for filtration
Felt Gaskets
Seal the filter chamber: No off-gassing from rubber seals
Unique pressure seal
The pressure seal system on the filter chamber ensures that all the impurities pass through the filters. Other systems allow dirty air to escape and fail to acheive their promised HEPA rating of 99.97% HEPA or 99.99% SuperHEPA filtration
Powdercoat steel mesh housing
No plastic vapors, with a modern attractive appearance, suitable for any decor.
Variable speed control
Allows user to set unit at optimum CFM for their situation
Models Available for All Environments
Airpura provides HEPA room models, SuperHEPA room models, and Whole-House systems. All are available in either 600 or 700 models and in configurations to meet any need.
Ultraviolet Germicidal Lamp in Airpura UV Models
20 Watt UV lamp
30,000 µm per sec squared
Sterilizes
mold spores, micro-organisms antigens
and pathogens
Lamp situated in filter chamber
Kills organisms as they are trapped by the filters.
Other UV machines place the UV lamp in the
air flow away from the filters. Microbes can escape
back into the air.
UV Switch
Lamp may be switched on and off as desired. Warning lamp indicates status.
Airpura P600 and P700 Models are Configured with UV and the TitanClean Photocatalyic Oxidizer.
Models with the TitanClean reflector offer the most effective airborne chemical, odor, and VOC abatement available today together with suppression of microorganisms and particle filtration.
TitanClean’s titanium dioxide (TiO2) coating in conjunction with the UV light creates an oxidizing process that instantly breaks molecular bonds and reduces airborne chemicals to smaller safer compounds, until only carbon dioxide and water are left.
Available in the P600 model or as a retrofit to UV600
Adsorption with Activated Carbon
Activated Carbon is the only safe, cost effective way to trap noxious gases and odors. Activated carbon is the substance that keeps military personnel safe from poisonous gases. It is also used for water filtration.
Activated carbon has been treated with oxygen to open up millions of tiny pores between the carbon atoms. There are so many of these spores that one pound of activated carbon has a surface area of 60 to 150 acres. Adsorption is the process where certain chemicals are attracted to activated carbon and then bond to it. The millions of pores in the activated carbon provide an enormous surface area to trap these chemicals.
The bigger the filter, the more chemicals it adsorbs and the longer it keeps on working. An activated carbon filter acts rather like a sponge. When it is full it can adsorb no more. The more carbon you have the more you can adsorb before changing the filter.
